Tiina Oviir
Tiina Oviir was born in Pärnu, Estonia and worked as a general dentist from 1989-1997 in her native country. She currently lives and works as an experienced Endodontist in Seattle, WA area. Since moving to Seattle, Tiina has been actively involved in the local Estonian community, serving as a past Board member for Seattle Estonian Society, and participating various Estonian community initiatives in Seattle. She has been serving on the Rotalia Foundation Board of Directors since 2011.
Tiina graduated as Doctor of Dental Surgery from Tartu University in 1986. Interest in Endodontics, a dental specialty also known as root canals, took her to Columbia University in New York. She earned her Certificate in Endodontics in 1999 and was subsequently appointed as an assistant professor at University of Washington Dental School. In addition to everyday teaching, Tiina served on various committees at UW, including the Faculty Senate and Dental School’s Faculty Council. She also served on the American Association of Endodontics research advisory board as a reviewer of manuscripts and research applications. While teaching in the UW Dental School, she also practiced as an Endodontist at the UW Hospital Dental Clinic and Bellevue Endodontics.
Tiina opened her own Endodontics practice in 2011 in Everett. Since entering full time private practice, she has maintained her ties with the university and is appointed as an Affiliate associate professor at UW department of Endodontics.
Tiina’s hobbies include taking pottery and drawing classes at community colleges, allowing her to extend her hand and eye coordination, used while performing endodontic procedures. She is a member of Seattle Green Lake Running Club and can be found running outside at early hours before work with her running buddies. She loves spending time with her husband outdoors through skiing and biking adventures and cross training class and singing with Seattle Estonian Choir. Tiina has two grandkids and can’t get enough time to spend time with them.
